About this Treatment

Your skin is exposed daily to harsh environmental toxins, irritants, and sun damage.

This can cause the top layer of your skin to appear dull, and it can make you look aged. Dermaplaning is a cosmetic procedure that removes the top layers of your skin, working to improve conditions such as: lines and wrinkles, acne scars, dull skin, dry skin and sun damage.

If you look at the tool used for these treatments, you may notice it looks similar to a razor that you would use on your body hair. The basic concept is the same as shaving.

By aiming a sterile blade at a 45-degree angle and dragging it slowly across the skin, it removes dead cells, scar tissue, and other debris that may be making your skin’s surface look uneven.

Dermaplaning clears away those damaged skin cells so newly produced skin cells take their place on the surface of the skin. In technical terms, this is what is responsible for the removal of keratinized cells on the outer stratum corneum and fine vellus hair – also known as ‘peach fuzz’.

You can take your dermaplaning treatment to the next level by combining it with an enzyme peel, carbon peel or radiofrequency. We also offer the deluxe dermaplaning treatment option that involves a series of processes, including: cleansing, dermaplaning, an enzyme peel and a hydro jelly mask.

Frequently Asked Question

Who is suitable for dermaplaning?

Dermatologists say this treatment is effective for people looking to make their skin appear more youthful, smooth, and bright. It can be used for any skin type and anyone with: acne scars, dull skin, dry skin, sun-damaged skin and fine wrinkles.

Is Dermaplaning safe?

It is safe for most people, with little risk of side effects when it’s performed by one of our certified specialists at Beau Boutique.

We carry out all of our procedures in fully insured and clinically standard, private treatment rooms.

Is Dermaplaning painful?

Dermaplaning is not described as a painful treatment. You may feel a scratching sensation on the skin as the blade is moved over the skin.

Are there any side effects or risks?

Immediately after treatment the treated area may become red, and feel sensitive. In less common cases the patient experiences breakouts, infection, ongoing irritation or skin discolouration. Carefully following your aftercare instructions will significantly reduce the risk of developing complications.

What results can I expect?

The full outcome is usually visible around 3 months after the last treatment session (if a course has been recommended). This will allow for the new layer of skin to fully develop which will be smoother, younger looking and more radiant.
