Rosacea is a complex skin condition that affects millions of people worldwide. If you’re one of these people, it’s important to know that no two cases of rosacea are exactly alike. There are four subtypes of rosacea – erythematotelangiectatic rosacea, papulopustular rosacea, phymatous rosacea, and ocular rosacea, each presenting in slightly different ways.
Typical symptoms include facial redness, small pus-filled spots, itching and sensitive skin. Facial redness particularly affects the cheeks and chin, and is often due to dilated blood vessels. As the condition is long-term, frequent bouts will often cause the blood vessels to weaken and burst, leading to an additional characteristic; thread veins.
