About this Treatment
Electrolysis is best known as a permanent hair removal method which works by passing an electrical current into the root of the hair follicle and destroying it. However, using advanced electrolysis techniques at Beau Boutique, the electrolysis procedure can also be used to remove skin blemishes such as skin tags, milia and some types of warts.
A consultation and patch test is needed to assess suitability prior to any treatment. If we find a client has a blemish not suitable for treatment with electrolysis, we can offer an alternative option using our Cryotherapy treatments instead.

How does electrolysis for blemish removal work?
The electrical current passes down a probe and into the skin where it effectively cauterises the blemish enabling it to be removed without surgery and with minimal discomfort. In most cases, only a few treatments may be needed to achieve results, but results do vary and are individual.
The electrolysis treatment has been successfully used for many decades having started in the early 1900’s where electrolysis was often used to treat broken capillaries, warts, and spider thread veins. Since then the technologies and techniques have continually progressed, and we use the most up to date Sterex equipment in order to give our clients the very best results.
Blemish concerns?
Skin blemishes may change in size or appearance, and we advise checking your moles regularly and seeing your doctor immediately if you are concerned or if you notice any changes (e.g. change in colour, shape or size, any discharge or irritation).
For certain blemishes we will require written GP consent. We will refuse treatment and recommend referral if we are at all in doubt as your safety is our out most priority.
NB: We are NOT medical professionals and cannot identify, diagnose treat or cure skin conditions. If you are in doubt or concerned, we advise that you see your GP or doctor at the earliest possibility.
What does electrolysis feel like?
Electrolysis clients generally describe the treatment as mildly uncomfortable, with a warm stinging sensation which they find to be easily tolerable.
What results can I expect?
Clients often ask what the down time is for the procedure. This does depend on the blemish you are having treated. Generally allow two weeks after the treatment for swelling, redness and scabs/crusts to disappear, with results being more easily visible up to a month later. This can be discussed in detail at your consultation.
Is this treatment suitable for children?
Please note we cannot treat any clients under 18 years of age for any of our blemish removal treatments.
